# User preferences

### Default Data Tabs

For users that view certain data tabs regularly there is the ability to save your preferences so that chosen data tabs will be automatically displayed upon launching the Activity Map.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note**:** This setting only applies to the browser; the option will not be retained if you log in with a different browser (ie. Chrome, Edge, Firefox), incognito/private browser or clear browser history/cookies, etc.
{% endhint %}

1. Add New Data Tab to Activity Map - See [Add New Data Tab](/dashboards/activity-map/add-remove-data-tabs.md#add-new-data-tab) section for more details
2. Click the heart icon

This will save all the current data tabs as your default view when launching the Activity Map. If you previously had any data items selected to display on the map they will need to be re-selected for each data tab.

If you add or remove data tabs you can save the new default view by clicking the heart icon again which will override the previous default settings.

#### Clear Workspace

There is the ability to clear all the current data tabs displayed in the bottom table and applied filters quickly by clicking the **Reset/Clear** option.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: Selecting the **Reset/Clear** option will NOT reset your default data tab preferences. They can be recovered by clicking **Load Defaults** or refreshing the page.
{% endhint %}

### Data Table Display Settings

There are options to change different display settings for the bottom table. The settings include different land area units, table row displays and an option to show/hide the individual data item selection checkbox.

1. **Preferred Area Units** - Select the units (ie. Hectares or Sections) for applicable land data items (ie. Bonus/Area, Area) displayed in the bottom table
2. **Table Density** - Select the preferred view row height for the table display (ie. Standard or Compact). Standard rows are displayed with more spacing than Compact rows.

Compact Table Density

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: If you changed the settings they will return to default next time you launch StackDX Intel. The default data settings will be Preferred Units = Sections, Table Density = Standard and Individual Map Selections = ON.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help-intel.stackdx.com/dashboards/activity-map/user-preferences.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
